Preppers (The general term for anyone making preparatory plans for self reliance in the event of an major event) use quite a few acronyms and abbreviations which at first glance make little sense until you check out what they mean!
I have created the following list from a number of sources so hopefully everything you need is here (important and more frequently used terms have been highlighted):

| CM | Compressed Meals (The U.S. Army’ new alternative to MREs, with a freeze dried entree. These are about 2/3s the size and weight of an MRE) |
| CME | Coronal Mass Ejection (solar flares) |
| C-Ration | Combat ration. The U.S. Army canned field rations that were replaced by MREs and now CMs |
| CYA | Cover Your Ass |
| DLP | Defence of Life and Property |
| EDC | Every Day Carry |
| EMP | Electromagnetic Pulse (Wikipedia) |
| FAK | First Aid Kit |
| Farady Cage | A shielding enclosure for electronics (Wikipedia) |
| FEP | Family Emergency Plan |
| FIFO | First In, First Out (used for food storage rotation) |
| FOB | Forward Operating Base |
| FWIW | For What Its Worth |
| GDE | Grid Down Event |
| Genny | Generator |
| GMO | Genetically Modified Organism |
| GOOD | Get Out Of Dodge (same as Bugging Out) |
| Ham | Amateur radio operator |
| HDPE | High Density Polyethylene, a food grade plastic for containers |
| HEMP | High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse |
| IMHO | In My Humble Opinion |
| IMO | In My Opinion |
| INCH | I’m Never Coming Home. |
| JBT | Jack Booted Thug |
| JIC | Just In Case |
| KISS | Keep It Simple, Stupid! |
| LOS | Line of Sight. Used to refer to an unobstructed path between points. |
| MAD | Mutually Assured Destruction |
| MOE | Measures of Effectiveness |
| MOI | Mechanism of Injury |
| MOLLE | Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment |
| MRE | Meal, Ready to Eat (U.S. Army field rations) |
| NINJA | No Income, No Job or Assets |
| Pollyanna | Someone that is in denial that TEOTWAWKI could occur and remains cheerfully optimistic even in the face of overwhelming evidence. |

| Zombies | The obvious meaning PLUS used to describe the people that have not prepped and will be begging or stealing from you WTSHTF! (see HappyPreppers) |
