Probably like a lot of people new to prepping, I started out quite focused on putting together a Bug-Out-Bag as I believe it concentrates your mind on what is needed for short term survival and gets you thinking about the types of supplies, tools and equipment you need to have at hand. My BOB is reasonably well-developed so far and I plan to post some info on its contents in the near future. It is in no way complete but the basics are there.

I have also started looking at home prepping for bugging-in rather than bugging-out. I am looking at modifications needed to my home and lifestyle to accommodate a little more preparation for SHTF situations. My wife is not prepping minded so I have some limits on what I can do in the short term but I don’t plan on letting that stop me! My supplies will be going in the loft so I have some insulation work to do before I board out the loft. The boards and the built-in loft ladder have been delivered it is down to me to get the work done now before I can really progress with stocking up the supplies and finishing the BOB (which will also be stored up there, out of site but still easily accessible). I am also currently looking at water storage options both indoors and outdoors.

Finally, I am doing some research on EDC (Every Day Carry) bags to see what I should have on me or in the car at all times. I don’t plan on taking a BOB with me everywhere but I want to have a smaller bag of immediate essentials and everyday usefuls to hand. I’ve notice that a lot of articles and video guides automatically include a rifle/handgun/hunting knife but being in the UK that’s out of the question so some UK-specific changes will be needed. While I am prepping my prepping area (pre-prepping?), this is what I am spending some spare time researching and acquiring at the moment.
